Breitling is a brand name in itself, but why do their watches cost so much? Well, not only are you paying for quality, but you are paying for a number of things. Some include:
Scientific Research and Watch Development
Breitling watches, like the Breitling Emergency, have some high tech features. Some have over 1,000 feet in water resistance, some help pilots navigate the sky, and some help adventurist and athletes get out of some slick spots.
Someone has to test every feature out to make sure they work, and to make sure they are the best watches your money can buy.
Materials
From glareproofed sapphire crystal cases to 50 plus jewels included in the movement, materials cost a lot of money. Especially when some Breitling watches are even made of Titanium; add it all up and you’ll see why your $30,000 watch cost that much.
The Breitling Watch Brand
This is pretty self explanatory, Breitling has made a name for itself since the early 1800’s. A brand name is everything, especially when technology allows hundreds of companies to attempt at replicating them. An original Breitling watch can be passed down from generation to generation.
Brand Ambassadors
This is one of the most obvious reasons why your Breitling watch is high priced. When celebrities like Gordon Ramsey, Bear Grylls, and John Travolta wear Breitling watches, you know it’s not going to be cheap. You are paying for a brand that is worn by the greatest in the world.
So all in all, research, materials, celebrities, and the Breitling name is the reason why your Breitling watch is worth the money.

Branded as Breitling’s “feminine version of time” the Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch holds technical specifications that allow it to play with the big boys. We’ve talked about this Breitling watch at the Breitling Watch Blog before, but we haven’t really gone deep into the watch’s technical background.
When Breitling designed the Breitling Cockpit Lady watch for the Breitling Windrider Collection, balance was a large aspect of the planning. Breitling wanted a women’s watch that was able to perform yet look elegant and remain reliable. Even though they made it look easy, sometimes designing a women’s watch with all the techs of a bulky man’s watch is not easy. Every aspect of the Breitling watch screams femininity, sleekness, and variety by using dial colors, straps, bracelets, and materials.
Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch Technical Specifications
The Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch includes a Breitling 71 caliber, SuperQuartz movement, EOL indicator, and a thermo-compensated quartz electronic movement. The calendar of the Breitling watch is a dial aperture and the case of the Breitling Cockpit Lady includes a variety of materials including steel, two-tone, steel & gold, or 18k rose gold. The Breitling cockpit Lady Watch includes 100 m of water resistance paired with an un-directional yet ratcheted bezel and a non screw-locked crown with three gaskets. Measuring at a petite 31.80 mm in diameter, the Breitling Lady Cockpit has a screwed in back and cambered glareproofed sapphire crystal on both sides.
As with the variety of cases, the straps and bracelets come in a variety of colors as well. First is the Breitling Pilot Bracelet, which similar to the cases, come in steel, two-tone, or 18k rose gold. If a strap is chosen, the wearer has the choice of pairing the Breitling Cockpit Lady watch with either a leather strap in blue, black, gold or brown; a crocodile strap in either black or gold; a lizard strap in either yellow, brown, green, red, blue, black, orange, pink or navy blue; or a Diver Pro strap in either blue or black.
For example, the woman’s diamond watch above is a Breitling Lady Cockpit Watch with a steel case and a bezel studded with diamonds. A mother of pear dial set with eight diamonds at the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11 o’clock markers. A date clock sits at the 3 o’clock marker and the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock markers use Roman numeral hour indicators. This Breitling watch also comes with a red lizard strap with a tang-type buckle.

Sometimes I run across a Breitling watch that just takes my breath away, The Breitling Starliner above is one of those Breitling watches. The Breitling Starliner watch is the perfect amalgamation of technical expertise and amazing design all equaling up to Breitling’s “most feminine model”.
In order to explore the Breitling Starliner watch one must start with the case. Three bold Roman numerals stand like giants at the 12, 9, and 6 o’clock markers surround by star-like diamonds which gives this Breitling watch its name. Behind each Roman numeral, gold second markers stand towering like Kings on a raised platform looking down into a courtyard.
The beauty, as described above, is only enhanced by the technical specifications which include a Breitling 71 caliber, Thermocompensated SuperQuartz(TM) movement with battery end-of-life indication, 100 meter water resistance, bidirectional and ratcheted rotating bezel, and cambered sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides.
The Breitling Starliner watch is available in an array of versions including steel, two-tone, steel & rose gold, 18k yellow gold, and 500 limited edition Breitling watches in 18k rose; all shown below.
